This fascinating exhibition opened to the public in November 2006 and covered Professor Phillip Tobias’s life from his childhood in Durban, to his years at the University of the Witwatersrand. His courageous fight for academic freedom and equal rights in South Africa resulted in him becoming an activist during the dark days of apartheid.

The exhibition featured his work with the living people of Africa which included the San and the Tsonga of Zambia.
