webinar:
LGBTQI+ Inclusion in Progressive Judaism
Date: Wednesday 2 June 2021
Time: 18:30
To accompany the SAJM’s current exhibition, “Ground Breakers: A History of Progressive Judaism in South Africa”, the museum, in conjunction with Temple Israel, will be hosting a webinar series to explore in more detail aspects of Progressive Judaism touched on in the exhibition. The Progressive Movement has a proud history of welcoming members of the LGBTQI+ community as equal, accepted and fully included members of the Jewish community. Of course this has not always been the case and there is also always more we can do. Join Rabbi Greg Alexander in discussion with Madeleine Hicklin and Werner Steffen, two members of the Jewish and LGBTQI+ communities, about the history and current culture of inclusion within and without the Progressive movement.
